26.2 Team Milk is a multi year initiative started in 2022 dedicated to supporting women runners.
In 2023, on a double page in The New York Times, Milk made a public invitation to support and sponsor every woman running a marathon in the United States. That same year, at the New York City Marathon alone, roughly twenty percent of all women in the race registered to run as part of #TeamMilk.
As Billie Jean King put it, “From visibility to sponsorships, Milk is celebrating women as the fierce champions they have always been.”
In 2024, the momentum led to the creation of Every Womans Marathon Powered by Team Milk, the largest marathon for women in the United States.
It was announced by Amanda Gorman and took place in Savannah, Georgia, and later became the documentary “Forward is a Pace.”
This year, the marathon will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona.
